A Comparison Of Traditional Dating vs. Internet Dating

Isn't it wonderful that you no longer have to rely on your parents or their friends to hook you up on a blind date? You don't have to put yourself out there at a pub or party to find someone interesting. You can pretty much set up your own blind date! Imagine choosing from a wide range of people someone that you think you will like, and then getting in touch with them and eventually going out.

How much nicer is that than the awkward (though sometimes fun) blind dates your friends and family set you up on. These days the easiest and most popular way of dating is Internet dating. It's related to the traditional set up, and even to meeting someone at a pub, but it really is a world away in efficiency and ease.

In traditional dating, you would spend some time in a club or party, scoping out the prospects and trying to make it known when you find someone interesting. The dating Internet counterpart to this opening step would be when you fill out your profile (present yourself at the club) and search through the profiles of prospective dates. For many people, the idea of doing this step at home is much easier than getting dressed up and going out every night. Especially because you can find many people who already have some compatibility with you all at once.

At a party you would go up to the person of interest and introduce yourself and maybe have a drink together. This is when you would ask questions and get to know some very basic information about each other to decide if you like each other. Potentially this might lead to one person asking the other out. Unfortunately, the feeling will not always be mutual, and one person may feel pressure to say yes, even if they're not interested.

With dating Internet style, you would already know the details about the person from their profile before you have any contact with them. When you find someone interesting you send them a message that you're interested and they can respond back if they feel the same way. If they don't, they won't. And there are no hard feelings or awkward moments face to face!

In dating the old fashioned way you have your first date and find out about each other and hope that, whatever the feeling is, it's mutual. If not, you may find yourself on a second date with someone you know you're not interested in. This can be a waste of your time finding the right person for you.

With online dating you can spend as much time as you like emailing, chatting and talking on the phone or by webcast to get to know each other before you even mention anything about the possibility of meeting each other!

Really, Internet dating is far superior in many ways to traditional dating. Of course there is still room for meeting people out in public, but for really looking for a good match, online dating seems to be an increasingly popular choice.
