Types of Dating Services
Let's face it -- dating isn't always easy. You would think that with all the millions of people in the world, it would be easier to find a date. But the fact of the matter is that dating, or even finding a person to date, is harder than it looks. If you don't like the singles bar scene, you're not alone. Many people looking for love decide to go with one of the many dating services out there. There are three main types of services that you may want to consider:
Newspaper Personal Ads -- Newspaper personals are one of the oldest forms of matchmaking and have been around long before the Internet. You may have seen these types of ads in your local paper. Some papers have personals, others do not. The basic personal ad is a simple paragraph describing the person and what they're seeking. There is usually a number you can call to leave them a message. If you're uneasy looking for a date online or using a matchmaker, this might be a good option for you.
Matchmaking Services -- Another way to find a date is by employing a matchmaking service. You'll find these types of services more often in large cities than small towns. Often, you will go in for an initial consultation and may even be asked to create a short video about yourself. The professional matchmaker will then decide which of his or her current clients are good matches for you and act as the middleman in arranging dates. If new clients come in that are deemed suitable matches for you, the matchmaker will contact you. This option can be rather expensive as compared to the other types of services.
Online Dating Sites -- Online dating is the newest way to find a compatible partner. There are lots of great online dating sites available these days. Most of them can be joined for a reasonable monthly fee, which allows you to post a profile and browse other people's profiles. You can contact the people you are interested in anonymously through the site, and others can contact you. Online dating is the fastest and most convenient of the various dating services. One of the most appealing things about online dating is that you can see photos of potential dates and even chat with them in real time using an instant messaging program.
