Love in the Fast Lane: The World of Speed Dating

Speed dating is the fast, fun way to meet new people. If you've never tried this before, you're in for a treat. At one of these events, singles will be matched up for approximately three to five minutes. During this time, they can talk and interact. After the time limit is up, they will be matched up with other singles, and so on. At an event, you could meet more than 30 singles. After each initial meeting, you will mark down on a form whether or not you want to contact the person again and they will do the same. If both you and the other person indicate that you do want to see each other again, you will be provided with contact information.

Some events are free to attend, while others cost money to attend. Most of the time, you'll find speed dating events in larger cities as opposed to smaller towns. Luckily, as this trend picks up steam, more and more companies are holding these events in a variety of locations. Most of the time, one of these dating events lasts a few hours. It's a fun, relaxed way to meet other singles looking for love and enjoy yourself during the process. Many singles find it infinitely preferable to spending nights in noisy clubs or smoky bars, trying to find a date. It's more interactive than online dating, and allows you to meet your potential dates face-to-face.

You might think that three to five minutes simply isn't enough time to decide whether or not you like someone. On the contrary, first impressions can be very powerful. When dating in the fast lane, trust your instincts when it comes to deciding whether or not you want to see someone again. It's likely that you'll meet at least one interesting person at a dating event, possibly more than one. And even if you don't, you're certain to have fun trying. Most events are held in hotel conference rooms, large restaurants, or other locations where there is enough room to accommodate everyone and give each couple a semi-private area to talk.

Some singles make speed dating a regular event and attend with a group of friends. This can be a fun, casual way to do things. When you're with friends that you know and trust, you'll feel less uncomfortable and nervous. Not that there's anything to be nervous about, as these events are designed to provide singles with a means of meeting each other that is free from obligation or pressure. So, if you're looking for that special someone, why not give this fun form of dating a try? Others have met the person they ended up marrying at an event, and maybe you will, too!
